Good post.

I think you're generally right about the cops. There will always be bullies- in-blue but I believe most police are just men in law enforement trying to do good for the community they're raising their families in. The cops at today's Phoenix protest were laid back, just keeping an eye on things from the edge of the crowd. They were pointing out signs to one another, laughing at the funny people. They have no reason to side with Wall Street, they don't get rich on their salary.

I'm familiar with Oakland's history of violence. San Fran is an activist community but it seems Oakland draws in militants who won't draw the line at violence. I'm glad you found a group you feel comfortable and safe with.

Reading about the logistics issue the SF group has I had a thought. For symbolic reasons they must maintain a large presense near the Fed. I think they should designate a nearby park for the food prep, health, and social services, and shuttle people back and forth as needed. The Fed occupiers can protest that site in shifts. When relieved they go to the park for their rest and necessities.

I suspect the PHX group will not have a 24/7 camp. The organization of this two day event was shoddy. People on their FB page were complaining they had no information and it was hard to get details. If there is a camp I would be interested in delivering items, food, water, whatever .... because I really think they'll need the support to make an occupation work.

This isn't San Francisco. Most of the activism in this state is on the wrong side of this issue.
