I keep my journal close-by while I'm sleeping to scribble dreams and thoughts. Great idea, rotten execution. I don't want to wake myself up completely to write them down because I'm afraid I won't fall back to sleep, so I don't. This has been going on for months. And months. Now that I'm sleeping better, I've got to overcome this. Last night I had what I believed to be really creative ideas I wanted to explore, as usual I repeated them to myself several times and then went back to dreamland. In the morning? Nothing, per usual. Maybe the trick is to wake up more completely after the dream or thoughts? Half awake is no good, I have no will power. Wide awake, there would be no choice.

Have you got a voice activated tape recorder? One of those little ones that has a VOR setting on it? (That way, you are not taping constantly and running to the end of the tape.) If you do, you can at least mumble the idea while you are partially awake.

And it might make for some interesting listening over coffee...

I didn't know there was such a thing. It must be a hoot to listen to. I guess you capture more of the essence by speaking than writing in the middle of the night. Thanks.
