Whenever someone on the coasts complains that we have no 'open space' it's obvious they've never driven cross country or through the west. I'm in awe of the vastness of AZ, UT, NM and CO. And CA is awesome if they'd just get out of the city. There is diversity of the landscape in the west. I'm still amazed by it after nine years.

My son James and I did a hiking trip in Utah (before he was ill). We discovered so many cool places we'd never heard of. All we had was a Jeep, backpacks, boots and a tent.
