It does makes sense to me, I think it's just the US that divided it, the Native Americans treated it as one I think, barring tribal spats.
I just read about the San Francisco Peaks in AZ and the controversy which the Indians lost concerning using the sacred waters to manufacture snow. Have you ever been there? I would love to see them or however you get there to view and reflect there. It's supposedly the most or one of the most revered places on earth. Since I drive through Flagstaff to get to Taos, I will definitely stop there.
