It's definitely harder for the red states, with little history of activism at this level. Except for the southern states, they can draw on the civil rights movements.
Which is why it's SO exciting and every victory should be supported and applauded. We're all here supporting NY, every single body is part of the movement. Bravo to the good people in the red states.
I realize I'm dancing on the wisdom and experiences of generations of fearless and optimistic and intelligent activism. That's why I can't leave here. It's too damn vibrant and alive and full of love. hahaha
I think the breeziness and often changing information is hard to get used to, especially for those used to knowing all the rules, wanting everything to be black and white. They're spreading news on their laptops and phones and word of mouth. You almost just have to have faith, and go and see what happens.
I didn't realize Phoenix wasn't camping out. As you saw, there are many in support of this and more will come out which is why you just have to keep talking about it and spreading it, especially online, FB for sure.
And YES! You're thoughts about the SF occupations is exactly right. They told us yesterday they're keeping a small but vibrant presence at the Fed Reserve building. They're moving the main camp right down the street to Justin Herman Plaza, where they can have tents and more people. It's very ideal, almost like the occupation will be several blocks long.
I have an edit to my post, I'll just put it here. The bail for "Purple" the guy who was beaten and arrested last Wednesday's bail is $5000, not $50,000. Duh. There was a collection taken yesterday to get him out, he has injuries apparently. I hope they got enough, looked like a lot of cash was being passed down, of course I gladly gave $10, wishing it could be $100. I haven't seen yet if he's out.
