I'm planning my trip to Florida in July. I had wanted to fly into Tampa, stay a day or so, see old friends, drive to the east coast, stay with my folks for about 6 or 7 days, go to my reunion, drive back to Tampa, visit for about 3 days, then fly home from there.

My stumbling blocks: One of my oldest and best friends can't commit to any days. She's the main friend the trip would revolve around. Her father passed away a few months ago and she is settling his estate. For some reason, the attorney has her on call, and she says that when he says to come, she must go immediatly to Alabama. I'm not sure what goes on in these situations and not clear why she couldn't say, OK, I'll be there in 2 days, or whatever, but I'm not questioning. Since I'll be there at the beginning and the end, I'm hoping we can meet up at some point; but if we don't?

The second block is that there's a guy I went out with over 20 years ago, whom I connected with on FB, and we have talked about meeting once I get there. He seems genuinely interested, still looks good, is single and child free like me, which is fascinating. I think it would be fun. He has a job installing alarm systems in high schools in the Keys (tough, huh) and he's on call during the week, but around on the weekends. He's very open to my plan, but since we don't have tons of communication, I'm not cementing our meet up. So I'll arrive on Wednesday, leave Friday for the east coast, return on the following Thursday, fly out on Sunday. I'll let him know and we plan from there, or not?

The 3rd friend is an old family friend that I hooked up with on FB. LOVE FB, how would I be chatting with these people otherwise? He and his wife still live there; he is super cool, funny, smart, just a great guy who really appreciates the friends you knew when you were young and what that means as an adult. They will be the easiest to plan with.

I'm excited about possibly seeing everyone, but also preparing to be excited that I might not. I'm getting myself used to the fact that I may be there in my hotel, looking for things to do, but I lived there forever. I can go out to eat, hear some music, get a drink, etc. Just BE and be on vacation.

I'm getting there, it just takes getting used to. Any second now I'll buy the ticket then most of the 2nd guessing will just go away.
