Insult upon injury

LIterally. Thank you guys for the good thoughts, I really appreciate that.

I was dismissed at about 10, no court room for us. Since the defense hasn't requested a speedy trial, we'll get bumped, in favor of those who did. This is a defense strategy to demoralize the victim and age the case. I'm so psyched that they get to call the shots.

I'm on call til 2, slim slender chance we go today, if not, next day well try for will be in Jan.

I'm in a nice part of town, sitting in a cafe having coffee and a snack, did some shopping.

Sigh. It's a beautiful day tho.

I haven't seen this on tv

After hanging out, with my coffee in the sun, I window shopped until about 1 then headed to the store for cat food, then home. I was afraid my phone was going to go dead. I stayed dressed but took off my boots, plugged in my phone, puttered around. At 1:50, they called and said we had a courtroom. I was actually thrilled. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair and raced back downtown. I'm only about 10 minutes away. I got there before my advocat.

I felt charged up and ready to go and a bit of a pro, different than the morning. Imagine my disappointment when the DA comes in and has to tell me we got bumped again. I couldn't believe it. I was pissed and disappointed. They hung out with me. I asked if our case wasn't as severe as others and they said it had nothing to do with that, there are legalities that make them take some over the others, sooner. I asked since we got bumped twice, if it would just keep happening,and he said no. He went out to get another date for the hearing, I said I'd wait, I was pretty jazzed up. When he came back, he said the judge was very apologetic. He said they do understand and appreciate how difficult it is and the effort I made. The next date is 1/25. I asked since it was so far away, if we could meet again before hand, to prepare again, even briefly and he said of course. He's a super nice guy, I know he felt bad. They see this a lot, we don't. It's all freakin tv and if a hearing gets bumped twice in one day, they either have to gloss over it, and have the story fill the other 45 minutes or just skip that little detail.

So here I am again at home. In my sweats finally. Exhausted, let down, but ok. It's completely out of my control and I'm letting it go.
