This country, supposedly the land of the free and the brave, seems increasingly fuller of narrow minded, hate filled people who believe they’re superior to other people, an apt description of fear.
It feels like that, but that’s narcissism on my part. I’m living now, I’m aware of now, so that’s what it seems like. But the cruel truth seems to be it’s just one cycle of ignorance and cruelty after another. Nothing ever changes. Our individual life situations weave us in and out of the mess, we absorb conditions and just become cells of the beast. Knowing that doesn't make it any easier some days. Like today.
In some states men are parading around flaunting their weapons, walking around armed and proud to show it when Obama shows up. Maybe it’s easier for the Secret Service; the weapons are out in the open. Seems like infantile exhibitionism to me. They want to be defined by the size of their guns, hmmm. Too obvious to even say it. But I will, they want people to believe they have big balls and dicks because they carry guns and even walk a little bow-legged. You know they have pencil
dicks or gherkins.
Great strength is found in stillness and silence. Hell, I weigh 102 pounds, I can get a gun; It wouldn’t make me taller with bigger breasts or more talented in the sensual arts.
‘da dumbin down of Americans. That’s a thought for another day.
Strength and bravery is speaking out for those who can’t. Strength and bravery is behaving compassionately, knowing that we are all connected; and what happens to one, happens to us all. We’re all made of the same stuff and want the same things. Talking is hard, understanding is hard, and negotiating is hard. A four year old can fire a gun.
Man-made boundaries and laws are guidelines for how to live. The U.S. Constitution could have been written by freedom loving new-age do-gooder lefty hippies. I’m no Constitutional expert, but when Joe Lieberman attempts to make a law that would strip Americans of their citizenship if they’re suspected of having ties to terrorist organizations, what the fuck? The implications of that are terrifying. It was laughed off this time. This time.
Coupled with ‘papers please, you don’t look like you belong here,’ laws, the gray areas are so vast yet can supporters really not see ahead? Do they have no ability to anticipate consequences other than their desire for a white armed population? Who would they turn on then? I guess that could actually be amusing, maybe a Will Farrell movie or something.
Then there’s the oil catastrophe in the gulf. Dick Cheney’s ghoul white hands are all over the lack of safety regulations. There’s tons of information out there.
Do you know how easy it is to run a diesel engine on recycled vegetable oil? My next car will have an engine that will.
Spring isn’t even doing it for me today.
Right now, I just have to read about people who don’t give up championing equality and dignity for humans, find inspirational quotes from the world’s greatest thinkers and artists and read really good books. Gotta put my head in the sand for a bit.
