Dec. 10th, 2010 06:40 amLong, long, long ago, when I was a young woman with a huge modem and monitor--my first --and I logged on to AOL I was blown away, the internet! The Web! The information highway was here. I think it was around 1991 or 1992. I was late. I remember staying up all night clicking, I didn't know it would be so orderly and colorful and fun. I remember literally screaming when a friend and I did ICU, I think it was one of the first instant message systems. I couldn't believe it.
But now. Finally. I think the internet is doing what I felt inside it should BE. We have a right to know what our elected officials and government are doing. That is patriotic. This is the US. Big and small, it's open. The lies and propaganda, whatever, information is out there. Assange & Wikileaks has said they ask officials to redact sensitive info and names so harm wont' come to them or others because of the leaks. I believe them. The US has operated in secrecy for too long. We've been lied to for too long. This is what the internet is. Information for all. These are indeed, fascinating times.
The hackers for truth, justice, freedom of information, what could be more exciting and interesting? When tax cuts for 2% of the wealthiest people in the country are extended, Congrats Paris Hilton & your family!!-- for TWO years, and long term unemployment benefits for ONE year for people making peanuts or nothing and paying bills is a matter of choosing which is most important, for MILLIONS of people, come on. Shine on! Let the rich and powerful fight this. Ahh. What would Ben Franklin say?
"Who are these “people” who are “angry” at WikiLeaks – random “patriots”? Sean Hannity? Sarah Palin? Joe Lieberman? Of course not: it’s these guys, i.e. employees of the US government whose online aggression is illegal and unethical."

Ahh, It's Friday. A little yoga, a little work, a cocktail or two with a friend and then art! It's not raining (hardly) and it's not that cold.
Good day everyone!
