I didn't know what it meant either and also loved the sound of it. I'm paraphrasing this still, but he said that's what he calls people who find out about an underserved group who are doing good things for the community, let people know about them, and then come and meet them and take part in their thing.

I wrote an article about a tiny farmer's market that's run by this young guy's organization, whose mission is to teach kids to garden and produce nutritious foods for themselves and others, in areas where they don't have access to these foods. And how to cook them. He's put gardens in two highschools, starting his third, and they go to people's homes as well. It's amazing.

I live in Oakland, CA, there are tons of farmer's markets, but not always in areas where needed most. The story was assigned to me, but I completely fell in love with this group. Yesterday I drove a few miles to this one, instead of walking to the one near me.

So, yeah, who knew? Power shifter. ;-)
