I guess the Universe wanted me to go to Burning Man, cause I'm goin ta Burning Man! While I waited and did nothing, the stars aligned in my favor. I'm bursting!

I know my playa mate from the newsite, we met today and talked alot and we seem good together for this adventure. She has all the camping stuff which is great. Neither one of us wanted to go alone. She met a guy who has a great set-up and seems ok--we're going to camp next to each other. We're all meeting next week to discuss. He'll carry our bikes there.

SO. MUCH. TO. DO.

I'm so excited and nervous! Butterflies are normal they say (in the stomach and everywhere else) for Birgins. New word I just learned.

After our meeting today, I went to REI and bought a day pack/sack vs. a small backpack. I also got a Platypus hydration thingamabob that fits right in. I worked with a great young sales guy who turned me on to the sack. It's lighter, I think I'll get tons of use from it. I've wanted a camelback type device forever but wasn't going to spend the money for just regular old hiking...

The next few weeks will be full of lists, errands, lists, errands, lists, errands...

Next on my list, extra large zip lock bags (Costco?), army combat boots (swap meet hopefully), goggles, mask or lots of bandannas...

And a pee funnel. Will any funnel do??? Like from the hardware store?

Then food planning, toiletries, gifts, etc. etc. etc.

This is a big deal for me because it's simply an extraordinary event in a beautiful harsh place that defies description although people do...Whatever it is, it is.

I'm really glad you're making the BM trip. I was thinking not long ago that you would probably regret not going after the event was over. It's great that you hooked up with some new BM mates.

As far a a pee funnel goes, I can't offer advice on that. I don't even want to guess. I would however suggest a large funnel with a Sharpie pen so you can clearly mark it.

I'm just guessing, but I don't think you want a dual-use pee funnel.

Make sure you have a quality sleeping bag. It will be very cold at night. Get one that's rated at least below freezing. I know they're not cheap but they're worth the expense.

Thank you!! I really love support, I'm excited and nervous.

You're right in that I was all ready regretting not going--deeply -- but had to be practical. Now I am so energized and amped up, it's crazy. I want to do everything RIGHT NOW! My mate has all the camping equipment, I don't have to rent or buy anything. She said her sleeping bag is good and she has a pad too. I will accept it! She and her boyfriend camped out there over July 4th weekend at some pre BM event (they seem to happen all year) so she got a good idea of it. It probably will get around 40 degrees at night.

No sharing of pee funnels! I think it's just a big funnel I can get anywhere?... Just to gross you out more, containers needed too...LOL

Noooo, you have to bottle it? That's not right. And what do you do with a full container? Don't tell me this is a take-it-with-you rule. And don't tell me guys won't be peeing in the bushes, because they will.

I don't have a user pic monkey with an 'eeeewwwwww' expression, but if I did.
