Apr. 18th, 2009 10:26 amLast Sunday brunch was very rejuvenating. I was still puffy, as my brother-in-law said, I had cheeks, which I normally don't. Hah! I had a yummy veggy eggs benedict type meal, the eggs sat in an artichoke cup and the hollandaise was spinachy. I couldn't get my bloody mary down, drank about half. When we got home, sis and I sat outside for hours, it was gorgeous. About 65 degrees, slight breeze, sun/shade, every color of green-grass, spruce, plum tree, flowers, red, lavendar, yellow, just a fantasy land of spring. We gossiped, I felt so mellow, it was great. Felt very healing.
On my big day on Monday, I went the mellow route. I took my early morning yoga class and it felt divine to stretch and sweat. When I came home, I just hung out, read, napped, ate, then cleaned up and went to the Rockridge area and spent a lot of time in 2 bookstores, one of them being luscious and bought 2 books that I am so excited about. 'The Guermantes Way'-Marcel Proust (yeah, I'm the shit) and Lush Life by Richard Price. I wandered around-it was another perfect weather day, had some coffee and bread, read a page or two.
I learned that at 3:30, moms and nanny's converge. They go out, pick up older kids from school and get snacks. I learned this is a lovely time of day for mom's. Where have I been? (oh yeah, at work). After a while, I felt a little hemmed in and moved on to buy myself a cocktail, right at 5. I texted my girlfriend who said she'd come by. My drink of choice was called Buddha's Hand. How great is that? Hangar One Vodka, fresh lemon juice, splash of pomogranite juice. (I had them hold the sugar) The place was full, Leonard Cohen was playing down the street a bit later and people were preparing. I watched people, read emails, sipped my drink. Then when my friend came, we had a great time, a few more drinks, some food, a great b'day. I was psyched.
The week flew by. The massive doses of Clariton and Ibuprofen slowly ebbed out of me. I feel good today. It's warm and sunny. I went to yoga, but I don't think I'm going anywhere else. There is some cool stuff going today-Crucible Open House and of course the Farmer's Market, but in a bit, I'm pulling a chair onto the fire escape and I'm reading and reading and reading.
