Julian Assange has energized the part of my brain that thinks about politics. I've been following Wikileaks in general but am now fired up and amazed and grateful that they are telling us what really happens, what is really going on with the leaders of the world. Not just murky-wondering how-stable the person is that speaks about conspiracies, but making public, the officials' own words. THIS is how the US leads. Uh-huh, just as we thought -- but to me, even worse/better to know and have the light shining on the lies and games they play for power and profit.. I am thrilled to know. Power and profit.

I've read some great articles and interviews:  Noam Chomsky & Amy Goodman and of course the Forbes interview with Assange,
---to name just a few, if anyone hasn't seen these.

The outrage of the US gov't and the Swedish gov't  and the Australian gov't, as well, Amazon, Pay-pal-- the scare tactics they're limply espousing to us, the security breaches that will now expose us to more danger-- the voters, the people they control--I think it's too late. And how does this put us in danger?  You control people by fear, you have to lie to keep people afraid, we know that.  It's like the movie The Truman Show, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120382/plotsummary  , I want to know, I want to get out of this box.

All parties want to know this stuff. I think Julian Assange is brilliant, the fact that he's sexy too, well, that is the buttered crumb topping on the coffee cake. In my humble opinion, Julian Assange IS the most interesting man in the world.

I think people are afraid to speak up about Wikileaks. It's a hot topic. On FB the 'followers' are an international bunch of thousands and thousands of people. I think this is the revolution. I don't believe the peasants will rise and march with weapons and overthrow the gov't. I too believe knowledge is power. Maybe this is really a start.

I'm not a hater of the United States. I do despise how it's been run.

Unemployment is higher than ever. The monkeys (nothing personal monkey friend) in DC throw tantrums, spit lies, blithely campaign to cut employment benefits to millions of people who will spend that money. Are there a few free loaders in the system? Of course there are. But, not the majority. It is insulting, demoralizing and frightening to have to listen to this every six months. Those of us who are working are working for much less. I have a temp job for a month making almost half of what I made at my previous job --and I didn't make much. After taxes are snatched out, it comes to LESS than unemployment, closer to minimum wage.

They sermonize about taking money that people will spend immediately, not even paying all their bills, just the important ones, juggling, because there is not enough money. There are not enough jobs. Health care is expensive. 800,000 cut off so far, millions in a few weeks,

And maybe it is a game and they'll pass it after they get a few more porky items added in. But they're playing with lives, sanity, health, children and lives.  But tax cuts to the wealthy, Awesome!

Go Wikileaks! Show me what the people are really doing that were elected. Running from the truth is not the way to live. Power to the Peaceful.

The people in Washington who are playing politics with people's lives must not have consciences, no matter what religions they may personally claim to believe in. I don't see how anyone who truly cares about people can use people's ability to LIVE as pawns in a political game. I would never survive in Washington; it's too cutthroat, and I care about people too much.

Wikileaks yes, but also what I meant that's happening here is the unemployment, the benefits disappearing, the poor getting poorer and the rich growing enormously richer. Our new gov't hates the poor, the old and the sick and they are making sure as many people suffer (and probably with any luck - in their view - die) with all of their drastic budget cuts. It's a scary place right now.

I'm all for Wikileaks, it's about time someone sheds light on the truth.

I thought Scotland would be different! It is the truth that they don't care who dies while promoting their power and profit agendas. I can handle that truth. (Now let's all go eat our spinach!)

You might know how I feel about freedom of expression and all that constitutional stuff. I have similar thoughts on freedom of information. I want to know what's happening, open books and all.

I don't even consider these leaks, if that makes sense.

However, something about Assange is not kosher. I'm not talking about the sexual charges brought against him. I think the guy has an axe to grind and is being very one-sided.

Do you think other nations diplomats don't talk behind doors in the same condescending manner Hillary and our foriegn dips do? How about the French? So much of this is not news.

Someday we're going to read about this guy turning up dead in a hotel somewhere. I will not be shocked. He's making powerful enemies all over the world. The CIA will be blamed. It won't matter.

The left will martyr him.

Hmmm. I can't claim to have read every document by far, but many other nations are involved and mentioned in the diplomat leaks. I believe he's zeroing in on the US because the US is still the "leader" of the chaos, ie, the wars and occupations of other countries. Other countries will be mentioned, but the US leads.

The French were vilified by many in the US when they didn't support the destruction against Iraq, weren't they?

He's all ready stated that in the event of his death, the leaks will continue, he came out as the "face" but there's a whole organization behind him.

I don't believe just the 'left' are interested in these things that are being exposed.

I believe it will matter. Whether he is assassinated and turned into a martyr isn't the point. However, his organization has provided what journalists haven't.

If it weren't news, Wikileaks wouldn't have lost their servers and he wouldn't be hunted. Turn on the lights and watch the roaches run for cover.

The point is we can read for ourselves through the papers willing to print them, the way our country is run and we don't have to listen to the lies. We can judge for ourselves. I personally am grateful and admire the group.

The "rape" charge was apparently drawn from an old Swedish law that says if the man doesn't use a condemn, then rape can be charged. I haven't read of anyone person or institution taking that seriously. Although, if it turned out that he had raped someone or two, I wouldn't pretend it wasn't a criminal act.

For now, this is what the country needs, truth, light, reality.

I certainly cannot claim to have read all the docs but I have read dozens of news articles on this issue. I find the entire affair, every aspect of Wikileaks and Assange, quite fascinating.

I have yet to read a single conservative champion of Assange. His supporters are lefties and anarchists. That's okay with me. I don't trust government or corporations either.

I think he screwed up by turning himself in. He's made too many powerful enemies to trust the system.
